Well it looks like DICE has done it once again. The successor to the highly acclaimed Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3 is now up for pre-order on the EA online Store. From all of the E3 coverage, it looks like the game is going to once again turn heads. The game is using the brand new Frostbite 2 Engine which will create amazingly realistic scenes, explosions, and overall gameplay. Right now there isn’t much more to say, as we have only seen some trailers and some critics were able to play the game at E3. The game is available at the link below for $60 (Limited Edition) and your purchase will also give you access to an exclusive 870 Shotgun and a Beret for the upcoming online game Battlefield Play4Free. As long as the game isn’t going to be delayed, it should be out on the 25 of October. In the mean time, you can go to the link below to get a taste of the gameplay.

Global Agenda is not your average everyday MMORPG, the game is not centered on quests and grinding levels in boring zones, the game is centered on an agent you create to fight in fun, and varied PvP missions. The game is a futuristic, 3rd person MMO. It has a fun, and fast paced game play.

Just recently global agenda has decided to become a free to play game, the game itself is only 20 dollars, but when the game becomes free to play, there will be a optional 20 elite agent pack that will give you extra expand more options when selecting missions, and some more things. Don’t think for a second that you won’t be able to level to the level cap at 50; you can reach the level cap without paying one cent of in game or out of game money.

The game is available to purchase right now on steam for 30 dollars, and there is a free trial that lets you play up to level 15 on all 4 of the games classes, recon, a sniper stealth class, assault, a tanky, minigun wielding beast, robo, which uses turrets and stations to assist teammates, and medic, which speaks for itself.

One of the best parts of the game, is the AvA combat, which is agency vs. agency combat, which is giant 10v10 matches where different agencies fight over various territories across the globe. This is one of the best things to do in the game because you get to get together with friends and play against other agencies for territory and bragging rights.

So, with Global Agenda going free to play, as of April 14, 2011, there is going to be a 20 dollar optional package that will give you extra bonuses to the game, some of these are double exp, tokens and credits, that game can still be played to the level cap of 50 without paying anything, you don’t need in game credit, or out of game money to but packs to keep playing, it is 100% free!!!

So, overall Global Agenda is a very different MMORPG, it is not as centered around grinding monsters and completing quests (although there is a small quest line that was implemented to help new players get beginner gear and learn how to play there class) it introduces a different kind of system that is more focused more around pvp, which is a lot more fun that grinding and killing monsters. Global Agenda is a game that you should go download right now, it is free!

http://www.globalagendagame.com/

You can buy the game right now on steam, I am not sure exactly where to download it when it’s free to play, just check the steam store and the link I posted above for more info on the game.

Scheduling conflicts, ESEA-IM backups ringing for CEVO-A teams, and lag uber drops? Yup. That’s what’s been keeping Riffin’ With Riff busy over the past few weeks. Our Week 7 match in CEVO was on CP_Snakewater against Northern Resistance. Since we had worked on it for so long, we started off with a comfortable lead after the first half, 4-1.

NR then responded with a quick substitute for one of their scouts, putting in Fawx. He personifies the Scout, as he is quick, accurate, and super annoying. With his presence, they were able to use their Demoman much more effectively and roll us through the rest of the game, all the while getting key picks and flanks. He carried their team to a 3-0 second half and later an overtime win.

We later played Team Bonk in TWL that night on Gullywash, winning 3-2. Since we knew that Gullywash was going to be the map the decided our fate in CEVO against From Downtown, we knew that our performance here was not going to be good enough. We spent a lot of time on the map over the past week or so.

But there were plenty of issues that we had on the map. Gullywash is a tough map to push on, it’s as though there are two last points to fight through before getting a round win. It also didn’t help that I was in a major slump and couldn’t save Rando for the life of me, literally.

Our communication as a team was starting to falter, so we did a team exercise. Spanker wrote down everything that everyone was doing wrong on the map, and then we used Random.org to determine which order we would pick at each other. Sometimes, just talking about TF2 is a lot better than just to play it.

Come our match, things got out of hand a little early as we took a 3-0 deficit. Our midfights were not working out, and there was one point in which my connection lagged for a few seconds while I had Uber ready on last…as they were pushing in. Yup, it’s the most unfortunate thing to happen, but it does.

We responded with a wipe on the next midfight and a quick win, but then lost another closely contested round to make it 4-1 at half. We used our halftime wisely, going over what was getting us, and decided that we had to get the enemy Demoman down early. Spanker switched to Sniper and got some key picks, which led us to two very quick round wins and a fighting chance at evening things up. But things quickly got out of hand in the 8th round, when the other team decided to run with Sniper and got a few picks of their own, including a key Medic pick on last. There wasn’t much else we could do, and we lost 5-3.

As far as our season went (4-4), there were things that we certainly could have done better (learning Coldfront and Gullywash better, not falling apart in our comms, not dropping ubers), but there were things that were completely out of our control (our Badlands match in which we used two ringers, an IM player substituting in the middle of a game). CEVO has since announced that they are using the next two weeks to redo matches for forfeit wins, which we have none. Fortunately, we are sitting in 15th place and only a few teams behind us have a make-up game to play, so there’s still a chance we’ll be able to go to the playoffs. Even though we’ll be a low seed, we can come back and fight our way through the double-elimination bracket to see where we stand, which is much higher than what our record says. In the meantime, we’ll have TWL to play, and we’re in a good spot for the time being (2nd place).

We are confident that we can take our game to the next level in ESEA-O. Small bumps are nothing compared to the big prize.

This game night will range the gamut and span from nexus wars to phantom and anything in between, and should span a decent amount of play time.

We may even have an extra treat in store for us from none other than Jazzy (of Viper Gaming TF2 ESEA fame) and his friend at some point in the night. This game night will start at 8pm est on Saturday, this time may be subject to change due to me having to move my computer over to my another house for a week.

You might remember several years ago when Maxis released Spore, and from the hype it got, everyone expected it to be as good as it had been made out to be, but when the actual game came out, people were disappointed. The game that was perceived to be the greatest evolution game of all time, turned out to be a bad game for 4 year old children. People were furious!

Well Maxis has come back with Darkspore, which was promised to be everything spore was supposed to be. Well I will say they have delivered. Darkspore turned out to be a very fun real-time, action RPG game.

Although, the game is still in beta and is not being released for about 2 weeks, but the game looks like it is pretty much done, they are just tweaking last minute bugs and glitches in the beta. Darkspore puts you as a cryogenitis, who has just woken up from a long cryo-sleep, you’re on board computer system briefs you that you are a cryogenitis, and you are in hiding from Darkspore, which are mutated organisms that were modified with E-dna, which is DNA that was unstable, during the time you were in cryo-sleep, your computer has been researching and purifying the E-DNA. It is finally done, now you have to create genetic heroes to go fight and naturalize the Darkspore threat across the galaxy.

You get to customize you characters in a similar interface to the original spore. Darkspore incorporates a very fun and interesting story mode, in which you travel to different worlds, clearing the planet of the Darkspore threat that is consuming the planet. You can do the missions alone, or you can match make with up to 3 other people, this yields more experience but the loot found during the mission is rolled for every time you pick it up. So going solo and with others has its own ups and downs.

When you reach level 9, you can play, in my opinion the best part of the game. PVP, the PVP puts you and your 3 heroes against another person and their heroes. There is also a 2v2 mode which looks really cool, but I haven’t been able to do that yet, 2v2 will push you knowledge of the game to the max, you will have to take heroes that compliment the other, there are some heroes that heal, tank, and DPS. It is really a very unique aspect of the game.

This game is a very good action RPG game, it brings everything that the original spore promised, but failed to bring to the table. Good single player and a very fun pvp mode make this game a very good choice for anyone who wants a good action RPG game.

This game gets 5 out of 5 from me.

This secures us a great seed for playoffs where we will compete for a cash prize. We are definitely confident going into playoffs.

Personally I would like to thank everyone on the team in a unique way. I will start with Slam. Thank you for being a game day player and fighting through all the pressure we put on you at times. Moving onto Patrick, congratulations on being a one of our top performers and putting out lots of damage. Next I would like to thank Magus, for having the least amount of deaths on the team other than our medic. Thank you Chaz for killing everyone you encounter, makes everything easier for everyone else. Finally, thank you Jazzy for being the team’s motivator and source of laughter.

The Viper Gaming frag video will not be completed soon due to Capture Productions being unreliable. Although team member Chaz has agreed to make the frag video.

This week, we played Yukon on CEVO and Snakewater_B9 for TWL. For CEVO, we bounced back after a disappointing loss to earn a top spot and are just a game away from clinching a playoff position. While our TWL record is now no longer perfect, it was against a strong ESEA-IM team and gave us plenty of things to think about for when we take it to CEVO.

Yukon has quickly become one of our favorite maps to play on. One of the reasons we are so successful on it is because of our rollout. Even with the new changes, we’re still able to get to Mid quick enough to lock out the other team and get some early picks, then use the momentum to push onto last. Our Soldiers will get full buffs in spawn, with our roamer using Gunboats, and goes through the Saw Tunnel and on the very top of the point to begin spamming the other team’s tunnel. Kapoww, our Demoman, usually gets full buffs afterwards and does a jump from second to the choke point, then picks up a health pack and does the same, while our Scouts and pocket Soldier do the clean-up damage. Since the mid area is so huge, there are times when I may call everyone to go super aggressive on them while I stand on the point and spam the Crusader Crossbow at the general area.

Should the fight then be taken to Last, we’ll have Spanker go Sniper and get a pick or two, then roll in with an Uber Advantage. While there are other scenarios in which we’ll have Riff go Spy, Rando and Techno bomb the other team before pushing with everyone else, or in some cases even have a rollout with an Offensive Engineer, we didn’t have to do a whole lot of creative things to win this match 5-0, we simply outplayed Enigma Corp and I got the feeling that they weren’t too prepared for the map.

As for TWL, we ended up playing The Spacewhales, an ESEA-IM team that found its way to TWL for Valve Swag purposes (can’t really blame them), and lost to them 5-1. We could have easily taken another round or two from them, but we were shoved into a corner early and made some drastic decisions and some miscalls that ended up shooting ourselves in the foot.

One of our weaknesses as a team is that we’re too comfortable with each other. We know what everyone else is doing at all times and we get the calls when something fails so that we can adjust quickly. It’s gotten to the point where some of our Badlands scrims are silent or just table talk and jokes, and yet we still beat other teams. This is a bad thing to get used to, especially for relatively new maps. Our comms will have to improve for when we learn new maps so that we don’t do silly things like take a longer route without mentioning anything, or over-extending without announcing that someone’s going to go for a Med-pick, or when I leave everyone to die because I’m lit up and just assume that Rando will still be around to protect me.

It’s something that we’ve gotten through before and surely will do so again. All we have to do is make sure it happens sooner rather than later.
